The Social Entrepreneurship Program
A new generation of change-makers are using business strategies to make a transformative impact on society. These young leaders are determined individuals who question the status quo and want to improve society through innovative products and services that are both ethical and profitable. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Haifa (known as Haifa Innovation Labs) was established to support and nurture these young social pioneers. We invite you to partner with us in supporting the activities of the Haifa Innovation Labs, a new academic program introducing students to impact entrepreneurship and the Israeli start-up ecosystem.
The Project
Launched in 2019, the Haifa Innovation Labs was established to instill and promote an entrepreneurial environment on campus, offer students a unique learning experiences combining academic excellence with practical hands-on experience and strengthen the University’s position as a leader in social innovation and impact entrepreneurship in northern Israel.
The program includes four primary components. HIL Academic offers courses and workshops on topics such as business planning for start-ups, the innovation process for new products and services, and developing interpersonal skills for entrepreneurs. At The Innovation Nursery, student teams from diverse academic departments tackle a real-life social or environmental challenge and develop a proof-of-concept for an innovative product or service. The HIL Fund provides early-stage ventures, created by students and recent university graduates, with access to funding and business mentorship by industry experts. HIL Sparks plans and coordinates special events with community and industry partners on and off campus to promote an entrepreneurial spirit.
Over the next two years, the program plans to enroll 300 students and plans to expand its program and training programs for business and government organizations in the region.
