When the World Stands Together: International Volunteers for Israel's Recovery

With a leap of faith and a sense of purpose you can move forward even when the odds are against you. Every student who takes a part in our initiatives becomes part of our story and carries it forward.

The Project

The University of Haifa’s Volunteering Program has developed a transformative initiative to bring international student volunteers to support communities in northern Israel affected by the ongoing crisis. In the wake of October 7 and the war in northern Israel, communities near the University of Haifa urgently need support. The University of Haifa is uniquely positioned to lead this meaningful mission.

The program aims to:

  • Bring 20 international student volunteers to Haifa to engage in educational, environmental, and community recovery efforts.
  • Provide hands-on assistance to vulnerable populations while giving students a deeper understanding of Israel’s resilience and complexity.
  • Create meaningful connections through volunteering combined with academic experience.

Fundraising Goals

Since October 2023, the international community has shown inspiring solidarity.

Philanthropic partnership is sought to establish and expand our impactful volunteering program.

  • Strengthening community recovery efforts in northern Israel.
  • Fostering cross-cultural understanding, connecting international students with Israeli communities during a critical time.
  • Building a global network of impact as students return to their homelands and share transformative experiences and deeper understanding.
  • Expanding the program nationwide.

Meet Giullia Russowsky Sacramento

I am originally from Brazil and made Aliyah to Israel in 2014.

I earned a BA in Political Sciences and Jewish History at the University of Haifa – a place that quickly became not only my academic home, but the foundation for my professional and personal growth.

I began working at the University while still a student, first in the Division of the Presidency and External Relations, and later joined the International School’s Study Abroad department.

In my current role, I have the privilege of representing the university at international conferences, building partnerships, and supporting students from around the world.

I work closely with both prospective and current students, helping them navigate their academic journey and discover all that Haifa has to offer.

I’m passionate about global engagement, inclusive education, and creating meaningful connections across cultures. I’m dedicated to building understanding, strengthening communities, and shaping a more connected and compassionate world.
