The New Herta and Paul Amir School of Medicine to Welcome its First 64 Students this Fall, following a Landmark Council Decision
After decades of advocacy the Council for Higher Education has approved the establishment of the University of Haifa’s medical school – a transformative initiative set to revolutionize healthcare, expand access, and shape the future of medicine in northern Israel. Powered by the largest single gift in the University’s history, the Herta and Paul Amir School of Medicine continues an enduring legacy of honorary doctorate recipients Herta and Paul Amir, devoted champions of the arts, education, and health sciences. Paul (Shmuel) Amir, of blessed memory, a founder of Kibbutz Yehiam, saw the University’s reach in Israel’s north as essential to strengthening the region he loved. He and Herta both served on our Board of Governors, with Paul also leading the American Society of the University of Haifa.
Hundreds of applications and a vibrant open day, where candidates met with the Dean Prof. Haim Bitterman and physician faculty from Clalit Health and Carmel Medical Center, reflect the School’s growing momentum. Join us in shaping the future of medicine by investing in research, education and state-of-the-art facilities.
