SHORT BIO

I serve as the Head of the Research, Consulting, and Development Desk at the University of Haifa Research Authority, where I also serve as a scientific consultant and grant advisor. Our desk, a recent addition to the university, focuses on advancing research by offering unique funding opportunities and support to our academic community.

My own academic journey has been fueled by an intellectual curiosity that transcends disciplinary boundaries. Recently, I submitted my PhD dissertation, “Sexuality, Disability, and the Law: Towards a New Conceptualization of Disability-Related Sexual Rights,” which received generous funding from the Keren Shalem Foundation. This research explores the intricate relationships between societal perceptions, legal frameworks, and the lived experiences of individuals with disabilities, bridging vital gaps across disability studies, sexuality, and gender studies. I hold an LLB and an LLM in Law and Health from the University of Haifa. Currently, as a Teaching Fellow at the Faculty of Law, I impart applied legal and research skills to master’s level students, preparing them to excel in their professional and academic careers.

The Grant Quest: Transforming the Academic Journey

The Haifa Grant Writing Academy is Israel’s first dedicated program designed to assist university scientists in crafting successful research grant applications. This pioneering initiative provides researchers with a robust toolkit to refine their grant-writing skills, significantly boosting their chances of securing vital funding. By empowering scientists to navigate the evolving academic landscape, we will play a critical role in advancing groundbreaking studies and ensuring that innovative research continues to thrive.

FUNDRAISING NEEDS

The Research, Consulting, and Development Desk was established to support faculty members in securing funding and advancing impactful research. We aim to provide a comprehensive support framework, assisting researchers in obtaining research grants through personalized assistance, scientific consulting, editing services, and graphic design. We offer an extensive training program that includes a series of workshops on writing, submitting, and budgeting grant proposals for scholars from all career stages. The desk also works to enhance funding opportunities by developing partnerships across academia, government, and industry and identifying new opportunities for both applied and basic research.

The desk requires further funding to broaden the extent of services we provide to our researchers; we strive to make our consulting and training programs available and accessible to all faculty members, with a special focus on new researchers, providing them with the best possible tools to become competitive world-class scholars. Support for the desk will enable us to promote excellent research, secure competitive funding and increase the impact of the University both nationally and internationally.
