Our hearts are captive in Gaza
Photos by Roy Hermoni, University of Haifa
In a resolute stand against terrorism, the University of Haifa joined the United Against Terrorism global initiative across university campuses demanding for the safe return of the hostages held in Gaza. Adorned with 241 name tags, an olive tree on the Mt. Carmel campus has become a symbol of this cause. Each tag represents a hostage. hey will remain on the tree until every individual is safely reunited with their families.
The project is a collaboration between UofH students Bar Avino Mashiach (School of Political Science) and Ron Goffman (School of Political Science and the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies). Their collaboration is a tangible representation of the human toll of terrorism.
As the university community comes together, there is a collective hope and prayer for the safe return of all hostages to their loved ones in Israel.
The university community fervently hopes to soon remove the name tags, marking the hostages’ secure return.
