Creating Dialogue Through Mediation: Supporting Underserved and Diverse Communities

Dana Feinreich-Giloh leads a clinic where law students provide mediation at no charge, promoting access to justice and social resilience – both in underserved communities and within the diverse fabric of university life.

The Project

The Dispute Resolution Legal Clinic at the University of Haifa provides practical student training and direct mediation services that strengthen both legal education and social cohesion.

Under Dana Feinreich-Giloh’s leadership, the clinic:

  • Offers pro-bono mediation and peacebuilding services to disadvantaged groups.
  • Conducts mediation skills workshops for underserved populations.

Fundraising Goals

Philanthropic support will enable the clinic to:

  • Expand access to free, professional mediation services for marginalized individuals.
  • Train future lawyers in real-world dispute resolution tools and approaches.
  • Promote a culture of dialogue and cooperation across the University of Haifa campus.
  • Integrate mediation and dispute resolution tools within the university community to facilitate peaceful cooperation and partnership, especially between students and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Meet Dana Feinreich-Giloh

I am the Director of the Dispute Resolution Legal Clinic at the Faculty of Law, where I teach mediation and supervise students providing pro bono mediation for underserved populations. Under my supervision, the clinic’s students also facilitate workshops on mediation tools for underserved populations.

I earned my LLB from Tel Aviv University in 2009 and later completed an MBA in Social Work at the University of Haifa in 2017, with a specialization in couple and family therapy.

For over a decade, I have been actively engaged in both practicing and teaching mediation. I have trained mediators and led courses in private mediation schools, the Israel Bar Association, and various municipal authorities. As a certified mediator within the Israeli court system, I have conducted numerous mediations in areas such as divorce and family disputes, small claims, mental health-related conflicts, and complex court-referred cases. During the aftermath of the October 7 attacks, I also led a complex ‘Consensus Building Process’ to foster dialogue between staff and students from diverse backgrounds.

In addition to clinical instruction, I teach negotiation and mediation courses at the Faculty of Law and across other departments at the University of Haifa.
