Azrieli Foundation’s $10 Million Gift Launches Advanced Nursing Initiative
In a landmark investment in Israeli nursing education, the Azrieli Foundation has donated $10 million to establish the Azrieli Advanced Nursing Center at the University of Haifa.
The center, led by Prof. Efrat Shadmi [Cheryl Spencer Department of Nursing], will be the first nursing initiative in Israel to unite advanced simulation-based training, a health technology development hub, and a dedicated research division under one roof. This pioneering center arrives at a pivotal moment, as Israel grapples with a nationwide shortage of medical professionals, widening health disparities (especially in peripheral regions), and increasing healthcare demands stemming from the war.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, the Azrieli Foundation said: “We believe that investing in nursing will be key to shaping healthcare services during this challenging time. Our support for the center complements many other initiatives that the foundation is undertaking to strengthen the Israeli health-care system and our investment in the health of all Israeli citizens.”
