PhD Student

SHORT BIO

I earned my BA and MA in Political Science from the University of Haifa. Presently, I am pursuing a PhD in International Relations with a focus on Diaspora studies at the University of Durham, UK. My research delves into the intricate relationship between Diasporas, with a specific emphasis on the influence of the American Jewish Diaspora on the immigration of Moroccan Jews to Israel.

With over seventeen years of experience, I served as a Program Administrator and Manager at the University of Texas, Austin. During my tenure, I contributed to the inauguration of the Jewish Studies program and later co-founded the Institute for Israel Studies. In my most recent role at UT, I held the administrative director position for the PhD program in the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Having returned to Israel nine months ago, I now serve as a program administrator at the University of Haifa, overseeing the Division of Sustainability and Innovation. Additionally, I am excited to be part of the team at the newly established Division of Global Engagement.

Beyond Buzzwords: A Conversation on Sustainability

(Hebrew Presentation)

The expansive nature of sustainability provides researchers with the unique opportunity to transform their findings into meaningful, real-world impact. The Division of Global Engagement, alongside the Division of Sustainability & Innovation, offers vital support to help university researchers amplify their influence on a global scale, empowering them to drive change and create lasting, positive outcomes for our planet.Galit Pedahzur

FUNDRAISING NEEDS

Operating within two distinct yet mutually supportive units present a distinctive array of fundraising needs. In both units, our aim is to secure funds to disperse among faculty members. Within the framework of Global Engagement, we allocate resources for faculty members to host international conferences and collaborate on research projects with counterparts worldwide. Meanwhile, within the Division of Sustainability, a significant portion of our budget is directed towards supporting innovative research initiatives that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Given the ambitious goals of these two units and our commitment to facilitating research in every possible dimension, we require broader support to ensure that all these valuable research endeavors can materialize successfully.
