University administration, Deans and dozens of faculty members, and graduate fellows attended the ceremony inaugurating the new home of the Bloom School for Graduate Studies, headed by Prof. Irit Akirav, Dean of Graduate Studies Authority. President Ron Robin and Rector Gur Alroey gave opening remarks followed by a performance by University of Haifa violinist Alexandra to the song “A Warrior’s Pain” by singer and actor Idan Amedi, who was recently injured in the northern Gaza Strip (it was voted song of the year when it was released in 2011).

The inaugural cohort began their studies in the 2022-23 academic year, a milestone made possible through the generous support and vision of the Bloom family. The School represents a transformative shift in doctoral student education, pioneering a program that fosters collaboration among all research students at the University. This innovative initiative includes shared courses addressing global challenges such as migration and environmental well-being. Through these endeavors, our graduates acquire not only specialized knowledge in their field but also a comprehensive awareness of the critical issues shaping the 21st century. “
