New Appointment: Prof. Dan Tchernov to Head the Charney School of Marine Sciences

Prof. Dan Tchernov (Scientific Director of the Mediterranean Sea Research Center of Israel) has been appointed the new Head of the Charney School of Marine Sciences. Since joining the University in 2009, he has held a number of key positions at the University including: Founding Head of the Marine Biology Department, Head of the Morris Kahn Marine Research Stations in Sdot Yam and Ashdod, and Vice President for External Affairs and Resource Development. He is also serving as Chief Operating Officer of the Audacious Project CETI (Cetacean Translation Initiative) – a consortium of world-leading universities – to decipher the secret language of whales. Prof. Tchernov succeeds Prof. Ilana Berman-Frank (Department of Marine Biology) who held the position since 2018.
