Ha’aretz Article Features Two UofH Scientists on Five Israeli Studies Destined for Breakthroughs
Dr. Shani Stern (Sagol Department of Neurobiology) and Dr. Tal Luzzatto-Knaan(Department of Marine Biology) were featured in a recent Ha’aretz article (in Hebrew) about Israeli researchers who are developing groundbreaking discoveries that will benefit humanity.
The Shani Stern’s Lab for Precision Disease Modeling is one of a few in the world applying electrophysiology to study the behavior of induced stem cells from patients with neurological disorders for drug discovery. Her team is also developing algorithms for predicting the effect of drug response in patients with psychiatric disorders such as bipolar and schizophrenia. READ ON (Hebrew)
Dr. Tal Luzzatto-Knaan and her team at the Functional Metabolomics Lab are exploring the chemical substances produced by algae to defend itself. They believe that these substances may be applied for diverse applications – from drugs and antibiotics to eco-friendly fertilizers. READ ON (Hebrew)
