UofH signs academic MOU with Bahrain institute – its third academic partnership since the Abraham Accords
UofH is honored to announce the signing of a landmark agreement with the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The new partnership aims to promote tolerance and coexistence in the region by establishing special joint programs for Jewish and Arab students, as well as educational initiatives designed to cultivate the skills young leaders need for the 21st century. The partnership was cemented during a recent academic visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain led by Dr. Uriel Simonsohn, head of the Haifa Laboratory for Religious Studies (HLRS), an academic initiative designed to foster dialogue between religious leaders and scholars in Israel and around the globe.
“Tolerance and pluralism are the qualities that characterize our campus, and we are proud and excited about this historic cooperation with Bahrain for the benefit of all the peoples of the region,” said President Ron Robin.
The MOU is the third agreement signed by UofH with an academic institution in the Gulf region since the Abraham Accords. The new partnerships include joint research in the fields of marine science, education and natural resource management with Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates, and the sharing of academic resources and cultural activities between the Soraya and Younes Nazarian Library and the UAE’s National Archives and Library. | MORE ON THIS STORY HERE
